MONTREAL -- A woman who stopped on a busy highway to help a group of ducklings cross the road in 2010 faces life in prison after she was found guilty of causing the deaths of a motorcyclist and his passenger daughter, the Canadian Press reports.

According to the Canadian Press, 25-year-old Emma Czornobaj was found guilty of two counts of criminal negligence causing death -- a charge that carries a maximum of life sentence -- and two counts of dangerous driving causing death.

Czornobaj was on a Montreal highway on June 27, 2010, when she stopped her car to rescue ducklings on the side of the road. Andre Roy, 50, and his 16-year-old daughter were riding on a motorcycle behind Czornobaj that slammed into the back of her car when it stopped.

Czornobaj said she didn't see the duckling's mother, and was trying to help them.

The wife and mother of the deceased said she doesn't blame Czornobaj for her actions, and says it's time to move past the incident.
