RENTON -- Nine schools in Renton will host summer programs for children and police will be strictly enforcing the posted 20 mph speed zones while kids are going to and from classes.

The summer programs begin on July 7th and last until August 7th. The nine schools in the Renton school district will have several kids in attendance. The schools include Benson Hill, Cascade, Highlands, Kennydale, Meadow Crest, Sierra Heights, Talbot Hill, Honeydew and Tiffany Park.

Some of those schools also have traffic enforcement cameras. Parents say the cameras are a welcome neighbor in their community.

Natalie Hill said, “I actually work at a Kent school district school and there’s cameras in that area and again I think it’s a good reminder for people that they need to be following the law especially when there’s school in session.”

If you are caught speeding in a school zone, you could receive a ticket for $124-250.
