WMW viewer tips lead to one of Washington State Patrol's 'Most Wanted'

Peterson2FUGITIVE CAPTURED July 1, 2014 -- Troopers say they arrested one of the Washington State Patrol’s Most Wanted fugitives Tuesday morning in Bellevue, thanks to Crime Stoppers tips from 'Washington’s Most Wanted' viewers. Steven Peterson, 55, had a $750,000 warrant for his arrest and was featured this past weekend on the show after he failed to show up in court. Troopers say he was driving intoxicated when he rolled his truck on I-405 just south of 116th Street in Kirkland on December 15, 2013, and seriously injured a passenger. He is charged with vehicular Assault, DUI, Reckless Driving, and Escape from Community Custody. Peterson is the 529th WMW fugitive caught after being featured on the show on June 27th. The photos snapped by WSP show the destruction. The crash happened on I-405 near 116th Street in Kirkland and shut down the freeway.

Peterson is accused of being highly intoxicated when he slammed into another car and caused his pickup to roll. His girlfriend at the time was riding with him -- and was seriously hurt.

Troopers say this reckless crash was not Peterson's first. "This is his 3rd vehicular assault charge, so he's actually somebody who doesn't care about human life," said WSP Sgt. Jason Hicks. "He's still out there the same thing he's already been convicted for two times in the past, driving while intoxicated, getting into wrecks, and winding up hurting people very seriously. Now we have a victim whose life has been changed forever along with her loved ones, family and friends, so it's important to us that we get mr. Peterson back in custody as quickly as possible."
