WOODLAND, Wash. (FOX12/Portland) -- The body of an apparent drowning victim was recovered from the North Fork Lewis River on Tuesday.

A boater called 911 at 4:12 p.m. to report a body in the water near the 800 block of Northeast Cedar Creek Road, across the river from the Lewis River Golf Course.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and located the body on the bottom of the river in about 8 to 10 feet of water.

The man's body was recovered by divers.

Deputies said he was not wearing a life jacket. A small, unoccupied fishing boat was found in some debris just upstream from where the body was found.

Investigators believe the boat belonged to the man.

The man's body was turned over to the medical examiner and the case is under investigation by the Clark County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol.
