OLYMPIA, Wash – Washington state is growing and last year the population grew considerably more than in other recent years.

New numbers out from the Office of Financial Management show the state’s population grew by more than 85-thousand people in 2013.  That is the largest single-year increase since 2008 said OFM.

The data shows nearly 60% of that growth was driven by people moving to the state.

Clark, King, Pierce, Snohomish and Spokane counties saw the largest population increases across the state.

At the beginning of 2014 Washington state’s official population was 6,968,200.
