Church daycare bus driver charged with child molestation

FEDERAL WAY -- Prosecutors charged a church daycare driver with 1st degree child molestation after a 6-year-old girl told police he touched her inappropriately.

Police arrested Oscar R. Lopez, 57, earlier this month.

According to court documents, the girl told police Lopez sat next to her on the bus and groped her in the parking lot of Bethel Christian Chuch. The girl told detectives she asked him to stop touching her and he did -- returning to the front of the bus.

The girl told police it was normal for them to be alone on the bus together because she is the only one who rides from the daycare to her school, according to documents. She said on at least five different occasions, the driver had "tickled" her over her clothing on her shoulders, her stomach and her privates.

The girl told police she liked Lopez because he said she was beautiful. According to prosecutors, "She also stated that he told her he would marry her but he already had a wife, and that he liked  better than his own wife."

Church staff told officials Lopez has been employed there for five years -- and has been a bus driver for the last three years.

Lopez remains in jail on $250,000 bail.
