REDMOND — A black bear surprised a family in the city of Redmond Thursday, prompting a little boy to offer perfect advice.
“Call the police on it!” the little boy screamed at the bear walking down the steps to his backyard home.
There have been 230 reports of “backyard bears” already this year in King County. The bears are largely harmless, officials have said, and just out looking for food at the start of summer.
Neighbors who live near green belts or up against the foothills are asked to ensure they aren’t doing anything to attract bears to their property including leaving trash cans open or easily assessable.
