Two local women share heart health journey: Go Red Better U

For 12 weeks, Shirley Sutton and Kristi Oosterveen have been taking part in the American Heart Associations Go Red Better U program.  In that time, they have made simple changes to their diet and exercise routine.  Shirley lost 14 pounds and lowered her cholesterol.  Kristi lost 5 pounds and saw a significant drop in her blood glucose levels.

To reward both women, we had the team at the Rosaline Hampton Salon in Bellevue give them make-overs and join us in studio to talk about their success along the way.

I would like to personally thank Shirley, Kristi and the Go Red Team for inspiring other women to focus on heart health.  Shirley and Kristi have been taping video diaries along the way... and it's been so fun to follow them on this journey.  Click on the tab above to watch their progress.  There are also lots of yummy, heart healthy recipes from personal Chef Kirsten Helle.

With all the weight Shirley lost, she says she needs to buy a new wardrobe.  Kristi has agreed to let us keep following her as she gets healthy.  So stay tuned for that.

Heart Disease is the number one killer of women in the U.S.  Thanks to these women, and so many others, we are all learning to take care of ourselves.  It know it Go Red Better U... but in covering these women and learning the importance of healthy habits... I now say, U Better Go Red.

Cheers!  To Heart Health!
