Everett family reunites lost kitty after two long years

EVERETT, Wash –  It took two years, but a local family has finally been reunited with their lost cat ‘Special K.’

The cat disappeared in Marysville over the Memorial Day weekend in 2012.  Shelia Davis and her family drove all over posting fliers and searching for the gray-and-black tabby cat, but their efforts were in vain.

So the family mourned their loss and over the last year even moved away from Marysville, south to Everett.

Then unexpectedly their long-lost family member resurfaced.

“Special K was brought in as a stray last week, after she was found by a family in Marysville,” said Shannon Johnson, Everett Animal Shelter director.

Johnson said luckily when Special K was adopted originally by the Davis family in 2008 she was microchipped.  So when she found her way back to the shelter this year staffers were able to scan that chip and track down the Davis family.

“It’s always a great feeling to reunite a family with their pet, but it’s especially incredible after she’d been missing for two years,” said Johnson.

Davis said the family has big plans to spoil Special K now that she has returned.

“She recognized my daughter right away,” said Davis.  “We thought she was gone forever and we’re just elated to have her back.”
