2 dead, 2 seriously injured in head-on collision on SR 522 near Maltby

MALTBY, Wash. -- A man and a woman were killed and two other people, including a child, were seriously injured in a two-car, head-on collision on State Route 522 east of Fales Road Monday afternoon.

The Washington State Patrol said that, according to witnesses, an eastbound Mitsubishi Eclipse drifted onto the right shoulder of the road, over-corrected, crossed the center line and struck a westbound Ford Fusion shortly after 3 p.m.

A woman who was a passenger in a Ford Fusion was killed immediately, the State Patrol said. The driver of that car, a man, died later at the hospital, the State Patrol said.

A man and a female child in a car seat in the Eclipse were seriously injured.

The injured were taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.
