EVERETT — A truck pulling an excavator struck the 128th Street overpass Saturday morning on I-5.

According to Washington State Patrol, it appears the truck hit the last cross beam of the overpass which caused concrete to fall — blocking two lanes of the freeway.

Troopers are investigating whether the excavator was too high to pass under the bridge or if the trailer broke allowing the arm to move higher.

Traffic was heavy on I-5 southbound as crews cleared the debris. Nobody was hurt.

The truck driver had just bought the used excavator and was taking it to Rainier, Washington.
