(CNN) — When it comes to outer space, the things captured by high-powered cameras can amaze you.

One such sight is in the form of a video that is gaining a lot of traction across the Internet.

NASA scientists say they were able to capture video of a star exploding over the span of four years and condense it into a minute and a half.

The event actually took place back in 2002 when V838 Monocerotis exploded about 20,000 light years away from Earth.

Before it exploded, V838 was one of the largest stars ever observed by humans and created 600,000 times more light than our own sun.
