SNOHOMISH COUNTY -- Crews from Snohomish County worked to contain a 25-acre brush fire Thursday near Stanwood.

Officials say someone reported the fire around 3:30 p.m.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office sent their helicopter SnoHAWK10 with a water bucket shortly after 5:00 p.m.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources took over the scene Thursday evening.

Crews planned to monitor the fire overnight.

A Snohomish County fire official said the brush fire may have been a slash burn that got out of control.
