Woman arrested after shots fired near Seward Park

Police responded to calls of a shooting near 51st Avenue South and South Brandon Street.



SEATTLE -- One woman was arrested after police responded to calls of shots fired near Seward Park in Seattle around 10:40 a.m. Monday.

According to police, officers responded to calls of a shooting near the intersection of 51st Avenue and South Brandon Street.

There were no known shooting victims, and police found the suspect inside a nearby home and talked to her. After a brief standoff, the woman came out of the home and was arrested.

Seattle Public Schools near the shooting were briefly locked down for precautionary measures, officials said.

It is unknown why the woman fired her gun. Police are investigating the incident.
