SEATTLE — It’s going to be tough driving in and out of Seattle this weekend. Major construction projects will tie up parts of I-5, SR 99 and the SR 520 floating bridge.
- The two right lanes of northbound I-5 at the West Seattle freeway will be closed to replace aging expansion joints.
- Deck painting will shut down some lanes across the Ship Canal Bridge on I-5.
- Southbound SR 99 will be closed from Denny Way to Spokane Street.
- On SR 520, bridge work will force both directions to close from Montlake Blvd. to I-405.
The Washington State Department of Transportation tries to schedule these big construction projects around holidays and major events to reduce the impact, but they still have to get the work done sometime during the summer.
