Police negotiated with gun-toting man on Capitol Hill

SEATTLE -- Police are responded to calls of a man with a gun near the corner of 10th Avenue and East Union Street in Seattle, and took him into custody after a long negotiating.

According to Seattle police, the man was seen with a handgun on the street by a witness. He is described as a white male in his 30s with a black leather jacket and a red shirt, black pants and white sneakers.

It is unknown what the man was doing on the street with a gun.

Employees at nearby businesses were sheltered in place while negotiators tried to talk with the suspect.

Police said negotiators assured the man that police have no intention of harming him and asking him to surrender the gun. He eventually surrendered and was taken into police custody.
