Man caught pushing shopping cart full of stolen meat down the street -- $263 worth to be exact

SEATTLE -- Police arrested a man Thursday night when an officer caught him pushing a shopping cart with hundreds of dollars worth of stolen meat.

According to Seattle police, an officer spotted the 50-year-old walking down Rainier Avenue near South McClellan Street around 11:15 p.m.

The officer asked the man why he had all that meat in a shopping cart late at night. The man told police he was taking all $263 worth of steak and ribs to a friend's house.

Meanwhile, a second officer went to a nearby QFC to investigate. Store employees told police a man had just left without paying for hist 13 packages of meat.

The meat was discarded.

The man was arrested and booked into King County Jail.
