Two people credited with saving Moclips woman from brutal attack

MOCLIPS, Wash -- Two passersby are being credited with saving a Moclips woman from a brutal attack and rape late last week.

Grays Harbor County deputies have arrested a 49-year-old man and accused him of beating and raping his girlfriend because she talked to another man.

Investigators said Friday afternoon they were called to the 53-year-old woman’s house in Moclips where they found her extremely upset and showed them scrapes and scratches on her head.

Deputies said she told them she had been driving with her live-in boyfriend earlier that day when he got angry about a conversation she had had with the other man and pulled down a deserted road and parked.

The woman said that’s when the boyfriend started beating and raping her. The woman told investigators she screamed loud enough that two people driving by heard her and stopped. Those two people yelled at the man until he stopped assaulting the woman and then he ran.

Deputies said they later found the boyfriend at the couple’s home and arrested him.
