Sweet success: Local teen turns baking into sweet business

SEATTLE -- A local high school senior is using her love of baking to better her future and help pay for college next year.

Rachel Lingenbrink is queen of the kitchen. She may only be 17-years-old, but already she has a baking company that’s getting a lot of attention. She’s been baking since she was a little girl, learning the ropes from her grandmother.

Recently, she decided to turn her love of cupcakes and cake pops, into a business. The name of her bakery is Shine. She started her online bakery in March and it’s already profitable.

“We are really proud of her, she’s doing a great job and working really hard,” says Rachel’s mom, Terri Lingenbrink.

“I do karate, I do school and this. It’s a busy schedule but I get it down somehow,” says Rachel.

And she has no plans on stopping. She’s using the money from her business to help pay for college tuition next year.
