WOW: Watch a massive supercell form over Wyoming (VIDEO)

Screen capture from YouTube

CLARETON, Wy – An incredible time-lapse video posted on YouTube shows the formation of a supercell thunderstorm over northeastern Wyoming Sunday.

The video was captured by Norman Oklahoma based stormchasers the Basehunters.

Supercells form best when winds are blowing clockwise with height.

The National Weather Service says supercells are highly organized storms characterized by updrafts that can reach speeds of 100 mph.  These cells can produce extremely large hail as well as tornadoes or downdrafts.
