Michelle Akers hold clinic at Starfire

U.S. Women's soccer legend, Michelle Akers was in town over the weekend for the Washington Youth Soccer State Cup at Starfire Sports. The Washington State native has captured two FIFA World Cup championships, an Olympic gold medal and was named by FIFA as the Female Player of the Century.

Akers held a sold out clinic Saturday with the Sounders Women team. Kids were able to work on their skills and get autographs. Akers was also on hand to hand out medals for the State Championship and Challenge Cup winners.

Akers had a 14-year international career and retired in 2000 with 153 appearances, scoring 105 goals and 36 assists.

Akers grew up in Shoreline and attended Shorecrest High school.
