Navy honors two of their own killed in Oso mudslide

ARLINGTON — The U.S. Navy on Friday honored the lives of two of their own who died in the Oso mudslide — Cmrd. John Regelbrugge and Chief Petty Officer Billy Spillers.

Both of those service members, who lived in the area, also lost family in the slide. Regelbrugge’s wife was among the victims, as were three of Spillers’ children — Jojo, Kaylee and Brooke.

Spillers 4-year-old son, Jacob, was rescued by helicopter on the day of the slide, March 22.
