Keep your dog on a leash if you plan to visit stinky dead whale

A dead gray whale washed up in Seaside, Ore., Tuesday morning.

SEASIDE, Ore -- Officials encouraged pet owners to keep their dogs on a leash if they wanted to take a look at the 40-foot gray whale that washed ashore Tuesday morning on the Oregon Coast.

According to KPTV.com, officials said the large, decomposing animal smelled "really nasty" because it had apparently been dead for quite some time.

Officials said cleaning a dog after it rolled around the dead mammal would be a "horrible way to spend" a vacation.
