MORTON — A 21-year-old father-to-be was killed in a logging accident near Morton Monday, the Longview Daily News reported.
According to the Daily News, Tyler Bryan was hit in the head by a log spinning hanging from a “skyline” logging cable while working in a logging area near State Route 7. Bryan was working on the ground when the heavy log hit him from above.
Workers on the scene called 911 and tried to revive the young man, but were not successful.
The state Department of Labor and Industries is investigating the death, the Daily News said.
Bryan, originally from Toledo, Wash., left high school early to join his two older brothers and become a logger. He and his finance were expecting the birth of their first child in two months, the Daily News reported.
Logging is second only to farming as Washington state’s largest industry, and is frequently considered one of the most dangerous jobs in the country.
