Second office shooting in as many days in Vancouver, Wash.

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) -- A 46-year-old female suspect was taken into custody Tuesday after shots were fired inside a government building in Vancouver and one man was injured, authorities said.

The situation began unfolding at around 4 p.m. at the Clark County Center for Community Health, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Boulevard.

The building houses services for Veterans Affairs, as well as the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.

A 45-year-old victim was taken to the hospital. His condition was not immediately available. He is an employee of the Veterans Integrated Service Networks, according to the VA.

Deputies at the scene initially said two victims were hurt, but later only identified one man as injured.

The suspect has not yet been identified.

Law enforcement officers with Vancouver police, Washington State Patrol, VA police and the Clark County Sheriff's Office all responded and assisted in clearing the complex.

One witness said he heard the sound of gunshots, then alarms went off, police arrived and he thought two people were taken out on stretchers.

"I thought it was a backfire. I wasn't expecting this," he said. "These people are here to help us. You shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you. They do a lot for the community."

The Clark County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting. A possible motive has not been revealed.

It's the second shooting in two days in Vancouver. On Monday, police said an employee of Benjamin Moore Paints killed his manager and then shot and killed himself.
