Safety checks ordered for Boeing 767s

SEATTLE — Safety checks have been ordered for Boeing 767 airplanes following serious safety concerns, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

boeing 767The Federal Aviation Administration published the order Monday in its Federal Register, claiming that the tail sections of the 767 can jam and potentially cause pilots to lose control.

The safety order is scheduled to go into effect on March 3. According to the Federal Register, airlines would have six years to address the problem.

Officials do not expect that any airlines will cancel flights over the FAA directive.
