Cell phone company will pay you to switch

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Bellevue-based T-Mobile wants to pay you to get out of your current plan.

The carrier made the announcement at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It’s proposing to pay new customers up to $650 to cancel current contracts with other cell phone carriers.

According to a news release, customers can get $350 for turning in their old phone to help pay for fees for cancelling the contract. On top of that, T-Mobile is offering a $300 credit toward a new phone. The deal is valid for up to five devices on one account.

The offer comes after AT&T offered a $450 credit to switch to its network.
