Port of Olympia worker seriously injured on job

OLYMPIA -- A Port of Olympia worker in his mid 50s was injured when a bucket he was using to dredge some waterways shifted and impacted him, Olympia fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to the Port of Olympia for the report of an injured worker around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. The injured worker was removed from his dredging barge and flown to the Harborview Medical Center's trauma unit. The man was conscious and talking, but seriously injured.

The man worked for the Orion Marine Group on its last day of a project for the Port of Olympia.
