Judge: $15 minimum wage does not apply at Sea-Tac Airport

SEATAC -- The King County Superior Court has ruled SeaTac's minimum wage increase measure will not apply to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport workers.

Superior Court judge Andrea Darvas ruled Proposition 1, the $15 per hour minimum wage measure, applies to the 1,600 workers at SeaTac large hotels, rental car agencies and parking lots but does not apply to the 4,700 airport workers.

Judge Darvas ruled laws passed by the City of SeaTac do not have authority over Sea-Tac Airport because the airport is operated by the Port of Seattle. Read the complete ruling from Judge Darvas here.

Prop 1 supporters say they plan to appeal today's ruling. The measure goes into effect Jan. 1.
