21-year-old man dies after crashing car into power pole in Renton

RENTON - A 21-year-old man is dead after a one-car crash in Renton early Friday morning.

Around 2:20 a.m., a witness called 911 saying they'd just seen a car crash into a utility pole in the 1100 block of South Carr Road.  The witness also stated the car had been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the accident.

First responders say, the lone occupant of the vehicle, a 21-year old male resident of Renton, died at the scene.

Officials do believe speed is a factor in the accident, but it's unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role.

South Carr Road near Mill Avenue will be closed until at least 7 a.m. while police investigate the accident.

Puget South Energy also responded to assist with concerns related to the utility pole.
