Mega Millions jackpot hits $425 million

Overwhelming Mega Million ticket sales pushed the big prize to $425 million Friday morning.

A winner choosing the cash option would take home a payout of $228 million. It's the second-largest jackpot in the game's history.

The drawing will happen at 8 p.m. Friday, and the winning ticket must match the six numbers drawn.

Mega Millions is played in 43 states, including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Researchers say you have better odds of being hit by an asteroid or comet, than winning the jackpot, but you have a one in 15 chance of winning something... even if it's just your money back.
