SNOHOMISH COUNTY — Everett School Board President Jeff Russell has resigned, ending his six-year term two years ahead of schedule, the Everett Herald reports.

Russell left the position on Sunday after saying he was in need of a “change.” In a statement read by Superintendent Gary Cohn and Vice President Carol Andrews Sunday, Russell said he was proud of the work he has done since he was elected in 2009.

“During the last four years I have appreciated the opportunity to make a positive difference,” Russell said in a statement.

Andrews will take over as the interim school board president, leaving the vice president position open.

What is interesting is Jeff Russell who is a Pastor at Central Lutheran Church, is on a leave of absent with from his church. Also interesting when questioned of the why he is on leave with the the church, the church refers questions to the school district! Why would the church be referring questions on Jeff Russell leave of absent from the church to the Everett School District? Jeff Russell resignation letter has not been shared with other members of the board, even though board policies states both the Superintendent and Board President (now Carol Andrews) shares communication with the board!
