A wet weekend; possible lowland snow next week

SEATTLE -- A wet weather system is slowly heading our way and will create “hit and miss” rain Friday night and Saturday.  Daytime highs will bump into the low 50s for the remainder of the weekend.

Sunday will see scattered rain and windy conditions. Earlier models suggested lots of snow in the mountains, but because the weather system is projected to move a little farther south, it looks like mostly rain below 4,000 feet or so.

Lowland snow is still a possibility, however. Much colder air will push into Western Washington late Monday, dropping overnight temps to freezing. Rain will change to snow through Tuesday morning.

By Wednesday, we dry out -- but cool down even more. Daytime highs will be in the upper 30s while overnight lows drop into the mid and upper 20s. Anytime we have a hard freeze set up for two or three days, pipes start bursting so you may want to take advantage of the warmer temps this weekend and wrap those pipes!
