2 men rescued from frigid waters of Shilshole bay

SEATTLE - Seattle police and fire crew rescued two men from the frigid waters of Shilshole bay early Saturday morning.  Seattle police said that the two men reportedly fell off their 40 - foot sailboat just near Golden Gardens beach around 4 a.m.  The men stayed afloat by hanging on to ropes and life jackets that were thrown to them, police said.  Friends of the men called 9-1-1 and a Seattle police harbor patrol boat responded to the area, along with the Coast Guard.

Seattle fire crews transported the two men to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of possible hypothermia.  It's not known how or why the two men ended up in the water, police are still investigating the circumstances.
