BUCKLEY – A man is dead after a late night home invasion in rural Pierce County.

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies say a man in his 20s drove a small two door Honda through the driveway gate of a home on 164th St. E. near 258th Ave. E. just south of Buckley, just before 11 p.m. Monday night.

The man then broke several of the home’s windows in an attempt to get into the home. The homeowner, a man in his 60s, was armed with a gun and struggled with the suspect once he got inside the home.  The homeowner shot and killed the suspect after a fight.

Deputies are unsure why the man broke into the home, and are investigating whether the attack was planned or random. One neighbor said this is very rare for the area, and he has never seen something like this before.

sorry that your friend, son, brother was such an amazing person that he broke into an older person's home and he died for it. Maybe all of his friends and relatives will learn and not do the same and make the world a better place.

Nothing is missing here, I personally know the homeowners and the intruder was in a rage, breaking the front glass with his fists and busting in the door, then attacking the homeowner. He fought for his life and is a hero for saving him and his wife.
