Major mountain snowfall Friday, Saturday

SEATTLE -- The big story is the return of the winter mountain snows.

Heavy snowfall is expected starting Friday and lasting into Saturday morning for all Washington passes. Snow level will be around 2,000 feet. Plan on delays and possible pass closures, especially Friday night.

The lowlands get rain, and depending on where you live will make a big difference on how much rain you get. Seattle and Tacoma gets the least, because of the rain shadow off of the Olympics. Everett and points north, foothills and coast get the most.

The weekend will get less rain as colder and drier air arrives. Highs near 47 and lows near 36. Wind gusts stay below 35 mph on Friday. It still looks mostly dry for the Seahawks game. Go HAWKS!
