Get to know your banker

SEATTLE -- Around the neighborhood, folks generally know their postman, butcher and baker, but what about your banker?

Business owners and affluent customers have long had personal relationships with their banker, but the average Joe? Not so much.

Janice Phillips, senior vice-president of Columbia Bank says stigma may have something to do with that, but it's not the case and everyone should know their banker.

"A banker can be your best friend. They're a consultant for you, they know your lifestyle, your finances and they want to grow with you and your family on building your dream life," Phillips said.

And it doesn't hurt to know your banker when you might need a little help here and there, like when you overdraw your bank account.
