SEATTLE — Starbucks is being criticized for its prices in China.
The Chinese state-controlled television network is accusing the company of making consumers pay up to 50 percent more for its coffee and related products in China than in other markets.
The Wall Street Journal reports China Central Television broadcast a 20-minute program called “Starbucks: Expensive in China,” stating the profit margin in China was excessive.
The CCTV report said a medium size latte costs 27 yuan or $4.40 in China, compared with $3.20 in Chicago and about $4 in London.
