Police shoot, wound Renton man who is suspect in earlier shooting death

FEDERAL WAY -- Police officers on Friday night shot and wounded a 35-year-old Renton man who was a suspect in the shooting death of an 18-year-old man the night before.

Police officers located the suspect in a parking lot near the 1400 block of South 320th Street when he attempted to flee, police said. Officers opened fire, striking him. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening wounds, police said. No one else was injured.

A Federal Way police officer and Renton police officer were placed on paid administrative leave pending investigation of the officer-involved shooting.

Police officers who were are investigating the death of an 18-year-old man who was dropped off at an area hospital with gunshot wounds Thursday night.

Police responded to calls of gunshots around 8:43 p.m. in the 31000 block of 1st Avenue South in Federal Way, but were not able to locate any disturbances or history of a crime, Federal Way police said. While they were investigating the scene, hospital officials at St. Francis Hospital notified officers that an 18-year-old had been dropped off with gunshot wounds.

The victim died at the hospital.

Officers went to the hospital and learned that the man was left there by his brother. Police contacted the brother and investigated his story.

Early Friday morning, the Valley SWAT Team and police served warrants on a residence in the 5600 block of South I Street in Tacoma. Three adult suspects -- one female and two males -- were apprehended. Two of the suspects are reported to be cooperating with detectives.

Police said that this is a murder investigation.
