Seattle housing market tough on middle class

SEATTLE — Owning a home in King County is getting increasingly difficult for middle-income residents. The median price of a home is now $420,000. That's 12 percent higher than last year.

According to a new study released by Trulia, Seattle ranks 23rd on a list of the top 25 most-unaffordable metro areas in the United States.  Families with a median income of $68,500 can afford 55 percent  of the current homes available, according to the study. San Francisco, Orange County, California, Los Angeles and New York City  are the top three least-affordable metro areas.

Ohio has some of the most affordable homes for middle-income earners in the country.
