14-year-old Everett girl hit by car on sidewalk dies

SEATTLE -- A 14-year-old Everett girl who was hit Thursday afternoon by an out-of-control car while she was walking on an Everett sidewalk died of her injuries at Harborview Medical Center Friday, the Everett Police Department said.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 112th Street SE and 7th Avenue SE in Everett at about 2:40 p.m. Thursday for a vehicle-pedestrian accident. Police found the 14-year-old girl on the sidewalk, where she had been struck by a Toyota Camry.

Police said it is believed that a Chevy Suburban traveling eastbound on 112th Street SE was turning left onto 7th Avenue SE when there was a collision with a Camry. The Camry veered onto the sidewalk, where it hit the girl, a business and flipped upside down, police said.

The driver of the Camry was a 48-year-old Everett woman, police said, the the driver of the Suburban was a 16-year-old Lynnwood boy.

The investigation is continuing and criminal charges, if any, will be forwarded to the Snohomish County Prosecutor's Office for review and a charging decision, police said.
