Sounders FC goes pink to fight breast cancer

SEATTLE -- Expect to see a sea of pink at CenturyLink Field Wednesday night.

The Sounders FC will raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and treatment during the month of October.

The match with the Vancouver Whitecaps will be played with a commemorative pink Adidas Prime 2013 Officials Match Ball accompanied by pink corner flags, pink goal nets and pink Soccer Kicks Cancer field boards.

The Sounders FC, Vancouver Whitecaps and match officials will also wear pink ribbon patches on their jerseys in addition to pink Adidas sweat bands and pink shoe laces. Gatorade has donated pink sideline towels to support the campaign and coaching staffs have been provided with pink MLS WORKS knit scarves.

Limited edition Breast Cancer Awareness scarves and pins will be available throughout the month with a pledge to donate 10 percent of the sales to the local chapter of Gilda's club.

The CenturyLink Field arch lights will be pink Wednesday and Thursday nights throughout the month of October.
