Missing rapist found hiding in victim's home
LYNNWOOD -- A Level III sex offender who had declined to check in to his parole officer was found hiding in the apartment of a the victim he raped in 2009, Marsyville police said.
John E. Stains was taken into custody Monday in Lynwood following a multi-day search by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department. He was arrested on a felony warrant and new charges of failing to register as a sex offender, police said.
It is unknown if the victim had prior contact with Stains.
The United States Marshall's Office assisted in the arrest.
