Oops... wrong guy! Tenino man mistaken for bank robber at Tumwater bank

You could call it a case of mistaken identity.  It led to a man being hauled off to the pokey and accused of robbing a bank.

But a 59-year-old Tenino man isn’t laughing.

According to The Olympian, police and bank employees wrongly accused him of being a wanted fugitive, a man wanted by police for robbing local banks.

The man first raised suspicion when he walked into the Timberland Bank on Trosper Road in Tumwater, picked up some brochures, and then left.  Bank employees thought that was suspicious.  They also thought he closely resembled a photo of another bank robber they had seen in a Crime Stoppers flyer.

Police made the arrest, but have now let him go and cleared the man’s name.  No word on whether the bank has apologized.
