Pilot in diverted plane dies

SEATTLE -- The pilot who suffered a heart attack while flying a United Airlines flight from Houston to Seattle has died.

It is unclear whether the pilot died on the scene, the way to the hospital, or in the hospital.

The plane flying from Houston to Seattle was diverted to Boise after the pilot complained of chest pains, a Boise airport spokeswoman said. Shortly before 8 p.m. MST, United flight 1603 had to land at the airport after the pilot radioed that he was experiencing chest pain

One hundred and sixty one passengers were stuck in the airport for hours before a plane could be diverted from San Francisco.
