Missing sex offender made statements about abducting women

MARYSVILLE -- Police are looking for a Level 3 sex offender who was registered to be living in a Marysville home, but whose whereabouts have been unknown for several weeks. The man also reportedly made statements in 2009 that he would like to abduct a woman on a trail and sexually assault her, Marysville police said.

John E. Stains, 39, was registered to live in the 4900 block of 61st Street in Marysville. Stains was found missing when detectives went to conduct their regularly monthly check on his residence. His housemates said he left weeks prior and has not returned.

According to Marysville police, Stains pleaded guilty in 2009 to first-degree incest. It was at that time that he made statements about wanting to abduct and assault a woman.

Stains also sexually assaulted an adult victim while living at her home, and threatened to kill the victim before leaving the residence. While in jail, he did not participate in sex offender treatment, police said.

Level 3 sex offenders are considered the highest risk to re-offend.

Stains is 6-feet tall, white male who weights 210 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. He also wears glasses.

Anyone with information about Stains or his whereabouts should contact the Marysville Police Department  at 360-363-8350.
