Suspected burglar, groper fondles the wrong resident

SEATTLE -- A man contacted Everett police after he was woken by the unknown intruder rubbing his groin area.

Police said the victim initially thought it was his girlfriend touching him, but when he realized it wasn't, he sat up and saw the intruder next to his bed. The victim then punched the man and armed himself with a knife. He chased the intruder out of the apartment and captured and detained him until officers arrived.

The intruder was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Police said their investigation determined the man entered the apartment through an unlocked door. They said the probable cause was for burglary with sexual motivation.
