Kent high school teacher charged in online sex sting
Kentridge High School teacher Brent Patrick Conley was charged Sept. 20 with attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor, a felony sex offense.
According to charging documents, Conley, 27, is accused of offering a fictitious girl — a supposed 15-year-old high school cheerleader — $100 for sex after responding to an online advertisement posted by a Seattle Police Department detective. Conley showed up at a McDonald’s in Seattle’s Sodo district expecting to meet the girl, the documents said.
He was arrested Sept. 18, but posted $75,000 bail the following day.
Conley has since been placed on paid administrative leave, Chris Loftis, executive director of communications for Kent School District, told seattlepi.com.
Conley joined the district in August as an English and social studies teacher after working as a substitute elsewhere, the website said.
