Fake iOS 7 ad saturates phones, people's moods

Fake advertisement

WASHINGTON -- What happened to the days of trustworthy advertising, such Mr. Clean and State Farm?

A fake advertisement is causing a headache for a few iPhone owners after they reportedly trusted the ad enough to dunk their phone in water. The ad, which uses Apple's font and style, states that users who update their phone to the new iOS7 operating system can dunk their phone in water with no consequences.

"In an emergency, a smart-switch will shut off the phone's power supply and corresponding components to prevent any damage to your iPhone's delicate circuitry," the fake ad read.

The spoof was allegedly created on the online forum 4chan.com. A few unfortunate individuals decided to test out the claim, to disastrous results.

One Twitter user said, "wts #iOS7 isn't waterproof!! now my phone's at the bottom of the river."

The real iOS7 has many updates, but making your old phone waterproof isn't one of them. No matter how magical you think Apple is.
