Video in Seattle assault case: Do you recognize these people?

SEATTLE -- Seattle police Tuesday released a video of three people who were caught on camera with a Coast Guard veteran right before he was beaten, robbed and left for dead in Belltown.

Detectives hope someone recognizes them while the victim's family prays he recovers.

Veteran Rory Burks’ injuries are severe. The 33-year-old was viciously attacked and robbed.

“He was a mess,” his father, Ronald Ripley, said. “He took at least one blow to his face.”

His dad and mom, Una Ripley, are by their son’s side in the critical care unit at Harborview Medical Center.

"A week ago today, he was just out of his mind. He couldn't even speak words that made sense. now he can."

A video from the Cinerama Theatre shows Burks in his tuxedo after he was out celebrating his friend's wedding. Detectives say he was attacked near 4th and Lenora right after walking off camera.  Now, detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying three people he was seen with -- a woman and two men.

"There's some kind of a confrontation,” said retired police detective Myrle Carner, now with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound. “You'll see the victim back up and have a conversation and it's almost a slight shoving.  Well, we don't know who these people are.  We call them people of interest."

Of particular interest is the man wearing a hat, T-shirt and glasses.

“He’s a guy we need to know because once we talk to him, we feel like it's a very good lead to solving this very serious assault case,” Carner said.

In one video, the woman looks across the street at where Burks is lying, but doesn’t go over to help him. She and the other two guys just leave him there and walk away.

If you recognize any of these three people, call Crime Stoppers at  1-800-222-tips.
